Zwenkau – Lakes and nature as far as the eye can look
‘Naturally connected’ – that’s how the small city Zwenkau with about 9 000 residents advertises itself on their city portal. Zwenkau is only about 20 kilometers away from Leipzig and located in the nature reserve Elsteraue. As former mining region the city now is surrounded by a dense network of rivers and meadows and it lies on the shore of the recultivated Zwenkauer See, the biggest lake in the Leipziger Neuseenland. Picturesque oak and the Imnitzer Laachen enclose Zwenkau on the west side and they furthermore invite to do some long idyllic walks through the meadows.
But Zwenkau has more to offer than only nature and a lake. A dense network of retailers, bakeries and butchers are supplying the cities residents with their daily needs. The medical care in Zwenkau is tremendously good with different medical- and therapeutical practices as well as nursing services. Families will profit from the wide range of day care centers up to secondary schools that are either directly in the city or in the neighboring towns. Zwenkau has an excellent connection to the local, regional and trans-regional traffic routes.
Zwenkau is due to its country location with a direct urban connection, its constant developing infrastructure and the variety of leisure offers a city with a high living standard.
