Dahlem is known not only for its charming landscape, but also for its place in academia. As the locality extends over less than 8.4 square kilometres, the campus of the Free University with its 40,000 students clearly defines it. Day-care for the young ones fits the picture: The nearest preschool, around 100 metres from the property, is an international one. A Waldorf preschool and other day nurseries as well as three elementary schools are also in the vicinity.
